German defence technology company STARK raised €500 million in a funding round backed by Sequoia Capital, Founders Fund and the NATO Innovation Fund (NIF), as it looks to expand its defence production and research and development capabilities across Europe, it was announced in June 2026.
The three existing investors led the round, with further backing from Project A, Air Street Capital, 201 Ventures, Advent and Döpfner Capital joining this latest round those named. NIF said it had doubled down on its commitment to STARK.
More than 80% of the funding is earmarked for research and development and manufacturing expansion in Europe, according to NIF’s announcement. The investment will support STARK as it scales production and develops uncrewed military systems, including loitering munitions.
The financing is a significant investment in Europe’s defence technology sector, bringing substantial venture capital into a company developing autonomous military systems and expanding its manufacturing capacity.
Media reports have valued STARK at approximately €3 billion, with Bloomberg reporting a valuation of $3.5 billion. STARK has not provided valuation details.
